But the offense is vying for the worst in the league no matter the reason. Some on this board would have you believing the defense is performing just as badly. It is not at all. Had the Cards defense performed as well as we did today, they beat the Hawks. What other team with this defense is 3-5? I can't think of 4 in the league. Could it be better? Sure. I blame McVay for the type of rbs he drafts, and the type of OL they draft, when they draft them. I ask if I tell you the Rams hold the Bucs to 16 points do you take it? I really couldn't ask for more.
I'll concede the drafting if Oline & RB's - I'm with ya there. But no other D has AD & Ramsey. Playing a passive D negates their strengths. Is 16 points good? You bet. But it should have been 24 (they dropped an easy TD). Even then, if they don't play the passive, 10 yard off defense, we win.
The offense is missing any semblance of a competence. Even if we have our 5 projected starters, we'd still get smoked by teams like SF & Buffalo. My point is; on O, we don't have the horses. On D, we do. We just neuter them as a side effect of our defensive coordinator's philosophy. That's not a small difference.
Ultimately, McVay is the HC, & bears responsibility for both sides of the ball.
But the reality is; if we canned both McVay & Morris tomorrow, McVay gets a HC gig immediately somewhere in the NFL. Morris MIGHT get a assistant coaching job somewhere. But he'll never be an HC in the NFL.
