Gaines and Floyd were playing hurt. They got healthy over the bye and had 3 sacks against the Niners. Pre mid season stats are screwy.
If Floyd gets 2 sacks per game the rest of the way he will wind up with 22 sacks. That would be pretty good, no? If GG gets another sack in the remaining 10 games he would have 11. Pretty good for a NT, huh? Also, all these rushing stats have no comp in how fast the opposing QB is getting a pass off. They could all be getting to the QB quicker than the last two seasons but when they arrive the ball is already gone. I remember a few years ago the Rams were playing against Adrian Peterson, the year he almost broke ED's 2105. They kept handing him the ball and we kept stopping him for little or no gain. He had something like 17 rushes for 30 yards or so. But, then, he took a handoff deep in his own end and broke an 80 yarder. So, he was averaging around 2 YPC and now suddenly, he was averaging like 5.5 YPC.
He ended up with 100+ yards rushing and according to the stats he had a big game.
In the next day's stat sheet it looks like he ran all over us, but it was almost all one play. Sacks are like that. A rusher might get a hand on the QB but doesn't get him down, no sack. A rusher could force the QB to flee the pocket and throw a harmless pass out of bounds. No sack.
