As expected, Breece Hall, is taking more and more carries each week as the season progresses.
It's becoming a popular concept for Jets players, especially WR to complain about playing time and targets and that could make it easier for Carter to speak up about wanting more touches.
While Carter comes from a similar mold as most of the current RBs on the Rams roster (5'-8" - 201LBS), he versatile, catches the ball well and is not Cam Akers. Carter is a bit younger being only in his 2nd year.
This may be a reasonable option for the Rams to make a trade even if they have to sweeten the pot with a 6th round draft pick or something. I'm not seeing anyone beating the doors down to get Akers. Releasing him gains the Rams nothing. Keeping him on the team but not playing him is only likely to cause drama.
I have no idea if this is going to happen or is even on the radar for Rams or Jets. But, it's a plausible trade.
