Not as bad as we thought? After reading your last paragreaph maybe worse than we thought.
I just learned today that Allen is out, didn't know anything about Boom being out.Subs at OC, RG, LT at this point of the season isn't good - even against "soft" teams.
Losing 60% of your Oline in our first game is an ugly thought. Losing your starting RB as well... if Akers doesn't get his act together real fast put Funk in if he's available. At least he tries.
This throws the whole game on our QB and receivers, and McVey AND Coen's ability to make a plan that puts his players in a position to win.
Items: No more slow-developing plays. Don't depend on sustained blocking or razzle-dazzle lateral movement on runs from a depleted Oline. Let Stafford throw quick openers off of three-step drops or out of the gun, or maybe from an empty backfield with 2TE's and 3WR's swarming on every play. Let him get the ball out quick - if nothing else, plan to keep him from getting killed back there.
But don't keep doing the same thing that got you killed last time. One of my biggest disappointments Thursday night was this: Halftime adjustments. if there were any, (and I don't recall any,) they were the wrong ones.
