He knows Boom's weaknesses from practices. He has the power that is Boom's weakness and also speed. It was a huge game to kickoff the season. Playoff level atmosphere so you know you're getting the good Von.
I didn't think Boom would disintegrate the way he did, but we knew this was a rough one for him and discussed this through the offseason. The next rough matchup, i.e. edge with power who will give him fits is SF with Bosa. Bosa has enormous power for his frame and Boom will require help vs him.
What we know here is that Boom can probably be fine vs most other rushers, the ones who aren't notably powerful. So even though he had about the worst debut you can imagine I'm not too alarmed just yet. There is room for him to bounce back and I hope this serves as a wakeup for him.
Where the Rams might be in big trouble is RG. Because Shelton has not shown he can play RG vs good opponents and he got destroyed in his first game. He doesn't have any real sample size to support him being good enough to execute that role. So there is room to say the Rams got bit by their rookie being injured because now a guy who they figured would spell the kid while he gets his feet under him in the offense has to start the entire season. And teams are going to gameplan him as a weakness with stunts and A and B gap pre-snap threats.
