Injuries are a part of training camp and the offseason, and the Rams have a few players who are currently hurt leading into the first preseason game.

Thankfully, there are no major injuries that have occurred so far, but six players are sidelined right now due to existing injuries from before and during camp.

Harris strained his groin in practice about a week ago and his timetable for return is a couple of weeks, according to McVay. So he won’t be suiting up in this game, but he could potentially return for Week 2 of the preseason.

Jefferson underwent a second knee surgery on Aug. 2 and will miss a few weeks. He should be an established player who doesn’t need preseason action anyway, but the hope is that he can be ready for the season opener on Sept. 8.

Lake began training camp on the physically unable to perform list with an undisclosed injury, and he’s the only player who’s still on the PUP list. The Rams haven’t provided any updates on his status, so it’s unclear when he’ll be back.

WR Brandon Powell (knee)

Powell banged his knee in practice this past week and though McVay isn’t concerned about the injury, he will be held out of this game against the Chargers. McVay noted that Powell won’t play in the preseason anyway, even if not for this injury.

Howard strained his groin while working out ahead of training camp, so it wasn’t during team activities. As a result, he was put on the non-football injury list and has yet to be activated. He hasn’t practiced since.

6
OLB Chris Garrett (groin)

McVay said on Wednesday that Garrett injured his groin and could miss anywhere from a couple of days to a couple of weeks, depending on how quickly it recovers. It would be assumed that Garrett won’t play against the Chargers and will rest up for Week 2.
