It seems that Tutu has done everything possible this off season to be ready for a role in the WR rotation. What elses can you ask of the guy? He is getting positive call outs from players and the coach and apparently his body is bigger and stronger which is a key obstacle for his success.
If there is an issue with Tutu is really should be with Snead/McVay for using such a high pick on him. Little guys often fail in the NFL and it is okay to question/dislike using such a high pick for what can be seen as a boom or bust type of pick. We all remember using a high first rounder on Austin who has had a career as a low end role player. So I think it is quite legitimate to question the use of a 2nd rounder on Tutu
What should be clear to all of us by now is that Tutu is worked his ass off this off season. He has a unique skill set and combination of speed & quickness that is unmatched on the offense. If he can establish himself as a weapon defenses will have to pay attention to him and that will open up the field for the rest of the offense. He also has a great set of hands and I think we will find his route tree to be much more advanced than Austin had when he joined the Rams.
I would love to know what he weighted in at this year and whether we love or hate the pick he will certainly be on the list of players we will be watching during the preseason. Remember with Boom or Bust players while the odds of success are lower than a safe pick the upside on the Boom can be huge. Let's hope the gamble works out.
