Also their defense was on a roll during the playoffs. Von changed things dramatically and once he settled in it was a much better unit. During the playoffs they surrendered 18.7 ppg which was a much more accurate indicator of who they were as a defense.
They were probably the best defense in the league by that point. If not the best then very close to that. Because Buffalo had the best regular season defense at 18.3 ppg but then surrendered over 29 ppg in the playoffs thanks to not being able to slow KC. Cincinnati was very good too of course, coming in just over 20 ppg for the playoffs though they also managed to slow KC due to winning in the trenches.
