I watch with the sound off most of the time

May 10, 2022 12:19PM
I suppose I'm a contrarian. But I turn the sound off. I don't need an announcer telling me what I can clearly see on the screen. I could care less who does the announcing. As much as I oved Madden, I sure didn't watch a game because he was the announcer. It was just an extra treat.

I mean: does anyone tune in a game because Troy Aikman is announcing? Not watch a game you're interested in because "your favorite announcer" isn't announcing?

I have a hard time believing anyone is going to watch a game they wouldn't otherwise watch simply because Tom Brady is part of the team. Maybe his first game or two to see how he does; but that's about it.

I think this is mostly about network swag. Bragging rights. Egos. One network wants to say they got this guy that all the others get envious about.
