What were they to do? Would a team really take a risk of trading for him, that would cost big draft capital PLUS a renewed top of the market contract? For a pouty smurf?

Their only play was what they did. Pick up his 5th year and burn incense. Lots and lots of incense. Because this young man would have to do an awfully big about face (and grow a couple of inches) before he can be that guy that they want.

When you pick up a QB with the first pick of the draft that breaks all the molds... and not necessarily in a good way.... the odds are never in your favor.
