Maybe I'm overzealous, but I keep visioning Rams 2nd year OLB
#48 Chris Garrett being a force in 2022.
I wanted Von back and I'm on board with the Rams bringing in a veteran OLB/pass rusher prior to preseason.
Even if the Rams had retained Von Miller, I visioned Garrett getting 7 plus sacks.
There are probably a few others that believe in Chris Garrett. Surely, he's bulked up and added at least 5 or 6 lbs.
Besides being drafted from a tiny college, Garrett has 2 big (Covid) knocks against him.
1. He didn't get to play college football in 2020 (COVID shutdown) at Concorida-St. Paul.
2. After showing some raw talented splashes in the 2021 preseason,
Garrett landed on COVID-19 reserve on Sept. 20, and he spent almost three weeks on the sidelines because of it.
“Seeing progress with him. It’s unfortunate because he was a guy that I thought made so much progress throughout the course of the preseason, and you could really see the influence and the effect that he had on the game, specifically just rushing the quarterback,” McVay said.
“And you guys hear me say it all the time, repetition is the mother of learning. He’s a young player that has a lot of upside, but he’s still continuing to learn.
And that COVID got him pretty good."
The Los Angeles Rams selected Concordia-St. Paul outside linebacker Chris Garrett with the 252nd pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
The 6-foot-3, 243-pound Garrett tied for the Division II lead with 14 sacks in 2019, also producing 69 tackles (20.5 for loss), seven forced fumbles and five pass breakups passes in 11 games, starting in 10 of them.
There is something about this guy that has me believing he's going to be a beast in his second season.
