In every draft there will always be debates about picking one player over another. I'm looking at it in another way.
What I don't understand is why they were even considering drafting TuTu at all...or as anything other than a 6-7th round pick at best.
He weighs 155, maybe 160. That should have been the end of the discussion. He looks small and plays small. Physics matter in the NFL.
Has any WR at his size been a success in the NFL? Maybe if he was an elite returner you could think about it, but he didn't do much returning in college.
Even Tavon was 175. All the "smaller" WR's are usually that weight at a minimum. There may be some exceptions that I'm not thinking of, but I don't remember them
So of course Humphrey would have been a better pick. Almost any player picked in that range would have been a better pick.
The Rams have drafted so well under Snead/McVay....You can't hit on them all, but what happened here where they pick a player so unsuited to play in the NFL in the 2nd round? There also had to have been multiple people being ok with it. It's a little disturbing to me. All teams miss on draft picks, but I can't wrap my head around how his size wasn't immediately disqualifying.
Hopefully they'll learn from this, but it's a tough pill to swallow for a team that needs to hit on a lot of later round picks due to the number of picks they trade away.
Disclaimer- TuTu has only played one year and could surprise everyone. I don't think it's possible, but if it happens, disregard everything I just wrote.
