Hasn't McVay been the playcaller ever since he's been with the Rams? There have only been 2 Offensive Coordinators under McVay and neither one of them called plays. If they want to be the playcaller, they have to go elsewhere to do it
2017 - Matt LaFleur. In 2018 Matt LaFleur was hired as Offensive Coordinator with the Tennessee Titans. In 2019, he was hired as the HC for the Packers.
2018 - the Offensive Coordinator position was vacant.
2019 - the Offensive Coordinator position was vacant
2020 - Kevin O'Connell
2021 - Kevin O'Connell. Leaving after season to be HC for the Vikings.
2022 - ???
It's a hindrance in terms of the person in the job not being able to fulfil that aspect of the job. It's not a hindrance in terms of their career advancement.
