It seemed like the feud between Eric Dickerson and the Los Angeles Rams fizzled out after Jeff Fisher was fired in 2016, but the two sides still may not be on the best terms. In fact, Dickerson said he might not even go to the Super Bowl on Sunday after the Rams offered him upper-level tickets to the game.
“I don’t think I’m going to the game,” Dickerson said, via CBS Sports. “I’m just going to watch it on TV.”
Dickerson explained that the Rams tried to give him tickets in the 400s section, which he says is “in the rafters.” Being a legend of the franchise, you’d think Dickerson would’ve gotten better seats than that at SoFi Stadium.
He didn’t sound surprised by the move but he also doesn’t want to make the Super Bowl about him. He just wants the Rams to beat the Bengals.
“Let’s put it like this, they wanted to give me tickets in the rafters,” Dickerson said. “In the 480s, 488, so I said, ‘I’d rather stay at home and watch it.’ I’m not in shock. But I’m gonna tell you, this is not about me. It’s about winning this football game. That’s the most important thing to me. I want my team to win.”
While Fisher was the head coach, he banned Dickerson from the Rams’ sideline, which caused the legendary running back to stop attending games. He and the team are now on better terms and he’s been more involved in things within the organization, but this isn’t going to help.
It’s hard to imagine Dickerson missing the Super Bowl at the Rams’ home stadium, but he doesn’t seem happy about the team’s gesture.
