Who knows? Its Rams fan message board speculation. The life of an NFL coach is a grind, especially on McVay's staff. They are millionaires living in Southern California who have nothing left to prove in their careers. They could certainly spend the rest of their time with family and foundations. It would be a wonderful and meaningful existence.
But they both have hung onto the NFL game a very long time. They both are clearly competitors who enjoy teaching. Maybe staying relevant has an appeal.
I remember my old man asking me with a growl when he retired at 70: "What am I going to do now, play golf? What is my purpose? What is my contribution?" He found peace and contentment in retirement, but it was a true role adjustment.
I would imagine there would be a conversation or two about coaching for Whit and Weddle. It will be interesting to track the coaches brought in by Rams with Free Agency and the draft.
But I just want to enjoy seeing the Rams win another Super Bowl and savor it. I certainly hope if the two of them ride off into the sunset it is with SB rings.
We are on the verge. I think it's the Rams year.
