Several of the comments emphasize McVay's game calling as being most critical. I think McVay's mind-set, game calling, and ability to make changes as the game requires, i.e his coaching, is the critical element here, and I have my doubts about him, not Stafford. Following that I think Raheem Morris has got to call defenses that stop the 9ers, and I have my doubts about that as well.
This game goes beyond mere stats and I'm not sure McVay has gotten that yet. This is a brutal rivalry and the 9ers have our number. If McVay doesn't approach it as such then we'll all have enjoyed getting this far and the pain of getting our ass kicked by the 9ers again is really going to leave a mark.
