I think the Rams overall offense—run, as you mentioned, and pass—employs the same principles of presnap deception to gain leverage.
That’s why it’s a mystery that McVay can’t figure this out. He and Shanahan are employing the same offensive principles—McVay towards the passing game, Shanahan towards the run game! They’re both disciples of Mike Shanahan.
So, you’d think all McVay would have to do is look inside his head and just reverse engineer how he’d run his offense if it were run dominant and—voilá—he has Shanahan’s game plan.
There’s most likely more to it. But this point causes me to wonder a bunch.
