We all know that there isn't really a QB who is capable of consistently playing well when he's getting pressure snap to snap. But it's easy to forget that fact. To get caught up in the hyperbole of that 1 in 5 or 1 in 10 moment where a QB overcomes a great rush and gets the win.
IMO the difference in QBs is what's their chance to play well in those 5 or so key plays that decide a game. When everything is at stake. That's where you start getting that divergence in the field. The differences aren't enormous either. You will see marginal QBs close out games strong time to time. They just won't do it as often.
With a guy like Brady you know he can actually do it. Doesn't mean he will. But generally when things are right he's going to play well especially in the most pressurized situations. That's the value with the proven QB though. They have a better chance of doing it in those moments.
One nice thing with this game is that schematically our defense matches up well with Arians. Arians teams just like us struggle with strong fronts because he wants the QB to hold the ball and strike deep. Way the Rams defensive front has been playing for a while now is so strong that I think it's going to slow Arians offense very well.
On the flip side Stafford has a run game that has emerged behind two powerful backs. I can't say enough what a big deal our RB pairing is right now for our playoff chances. A threatening run game matters. It changes things.
But then you have Stafford also finishing up year one and looking stronger and stronger in the scheme. People don't give that enough consideration IMO. That he's done a pretty good job learning a very complicated offense while also winning 12 games, the toughest division in the league, and a playoff game.
