Ummm, yeah.
The role of a coach might be, as you say, simply "To coach", but Morris isn't a coach, he's got this big word "Coordinator" in his title. It's his job "put simply" to put players in a position where they can help the team. If they aren't getting it done, then whose fault is that? The guy who hired them? They guy who put them on the field? This isn't high school ball where everyone gets to play. This is the best-of-the football best. You tell me.
Interestingly, since you mention him, let's take a look at how old Morgan Fox did after leaving the team....1.5 sacks, 7 qb hits. We sure could have used that help. So maybe different players, different situations and differnt coaches maybe affect statistics just a bit? Is this why stats are generally a poor measuring stick of performance?
You make these claims of having been a high level coach, that's fine, you seem to know your X & O's inside and out. However, you seem to have a blind spot when it comes to honestly evaluating Morris as a DC. And in closing, I have never said "Fire Morris." I dislike his philiosopy greatly. Would I be sad if he was repleced with someone who can geberate a better pass rush at at the line and doesn't play cautions with his defensive backs, absolutley. Do I think that his results are the results of superior players and not anything he's doing, yup. Do I think he WILL be fired? Barring a fake punt on his own 20, no, no I don't.
