When—for the very short time McVay did—he owned the th 49ers (basically in 2018), McVay beat them at Levi’s 39-10 on Oct. 21st, 2018.
Here’s the rushing stats:
Net Yards Rushing: Rams - 146. 49ers - 107
Rushing Plays: Rams - 36 49ers - 24
On Dec. 30th, 2018 the Rams beat up the 49ers 48-32 at the Coliseum. CJ Anderson was on the roster.
Net Yards Rushing 49ers - 127 Rams - 155
Rushing Plays: 49ers - 22 Rams - 42
I think Shanahan decided to build his team from that point on to never get out rushed or out muscled by the Rams again. He shaped his roster around that goal and in 2019 ran the ball all the way to a super bowl.
