.... what McVay is going to do, schematically speaking, even before McVays next play. Shanahan has not only drafted to "beat" the Rams, their time together while in DC was also an education to McVays offensive philosophy. Why is it that when the Rams play either the Cardinals/Hawks that the game scheme is/appears much better. I believe most posters on this board also feel that Morris must go, however, that's another issue, unto itself.

you are correct. I remember how back in the 90's the eagles drafted defensive players strictly to stop the triplet cowboys. The rams seriously would be best served to go against type against the niners, let the OC and DC call what they want to instead of the established McVay script, like when Rocky was trained to box left handed. in the 2nd fight against Apollo. Just like Rocky I would hate to resort to a trick to beat the Niners, I'd rather just bludgeon them but hey we have to do whatever it takes to end this streak. If it means shooting free throws under handed then so be it. How is it that the Seahawks and Cards have no problem dealing with the Niners offensive attack with defenses I wouldn't dream of trading for ours??? Part of it is just mindset. If the Seahawks cut Bobby Wagner maybe he can be enticed to LA for less than the going rate, I can't recall him getting punked by the Niners in their games with them.

Speaking of which before judging Raheem too harshly I would allow him to run the defense the way he wants to run it. It has been clearly established that Raheem was instructed to keep the Staley defense installed. However he can't be realistically be expected to maintain that defense's high level of performance with less talented players, especially after offensive minds around the league have had a year to basically crack this defense's code. The Staley approach was widely adopted this year and had great success early but as the year progressed it hasn't been as good, look at the KC Chiefs (basically every team except the Raiders employed this approach on them to great success early in the year, not so much so anymore.) Let Raheem run his defense the type he ran when he was a HC and let's see how he does. The thing most people blast Morris for is the passive nature of his defense but that is the guiding principle of the Fangio/Staley system. Sure they were more successful at it but that is because it was new and people hadn't figured out the hack to it yet, now they have. Take what the defense gives you. Now look how well it is working for the beforementioned Fangio and Staley, about the same as it is with us.
