IMO McVay is his own worst enemy......

I don't think he is easy to figure out or that in losses it's because he's always out coached...IMO his problem is he seems to not at times have a true feel of what his eyes see and what his mind is saying. Why does he not incorporate what he needed to do with Goff to help hide Goffs weaknesses/teams weaknesses with what Matthew has superiority with in skills? What happened to his use of the short pass to augment the run game, use that short pass to help, even somewhat replace the at times weak run game? IMO that's on him. Not the opposing Coach figuring him out/outsmarting him.

That 1st half ending, giving them the ball back for the CHANCE to score......3rd and 1 and he goes empty backfield and the pass goes no where....that's not being out smarted, out coached.....that's on him for his choice...he did it because of what Matthew is known for, passing the ball......but if he had gone with a more standard look the other side would have to answer with out the knowledge that he's going all out on pass....A more standard set allows for run/pass, a roll out the same thing.

That 4th quarter that needed 1 st down to kill the game/leave way too little time if any.....he runs it 3 times when his eyes have shown that the run was for the most part not there, but he put his money on 3 straight runs. That's not being out coached....that's him.

IMO either of those other outcomes gives us the win, it doesn't put the entire onus on the D to do the hefting. The D through out that game did enough to get the O their chances to take leads, and they did, the problem came when they had the lead Coach made bone head choices that opened the door for a team that everyone knows can beat you down with that run game....best way to alter that game is to not give them the chance......3 runs at the end was bad choices, not being out smarted

He talks a lot about self grading and learning, every game is a learning experience....that of itself sounds great, but after 5 years he is no long a young coach. IMO after 5 years he has seen pretty much everything there is to see.....it's time he start REALLY look at himself and make some improvements.....he's a good/great coach, but these mistakes should not be that hard to see and really address them with visible actual improvements....it starts with IMO using at times those things that helped Goff and apply those things to Matthews game at times..
