That Lions defense was good, one of the best defensive passer ratings. Good run defense
two good pass rushing ends, Suh in the middle...two good LBer Levy and Tulluch
they deserved more pro bowlers
Lions were in the game---leading , Stafford played well
Stafford threw 2 4th Q picks-and it was over.
In fairness, this was a team just getting beaten by the better team
Stafford played well, maybe forced the 1st INT....last one kind of
a separation thing... needed something... no real blame
Are you sure you're thinking of the 2011 Lions D?
Pro Football Reference has them ranked 23rd, including giving up the 10th most rushing yards & tied for the 2nd highest yards per attempt (5.0 to the Raiders 5.1). [
www.pro-football-reference.com]
And [
www.footballdb.com] shows opposing QBs with a combined 82.1 passer rating against that Lions defense. It's a respectable number, but at 12th in the league it's kind of middle-of-the-pack-ish ...
edit - copied from my original post:
New Orleans never punted the ball, gained a postseason record 626 yards, converted three fourth downs, and scored 35 points in the second half to defeat the Lions That's not how a good defense plays.
