Re: Brian Baldinger on Stafford's pick 6 vs Ravens

Does anyone remember how DWill had the pick 6 in Seattle for the playoff win? Just can't trust that awful QB Russell Wilson In the playoffs. Dude couldn't complete a simple screen pass to the flat.

Such a statement is no different than the idiot lunacy we hear about this play meaning Stafford can't be trusted. QB's have to throw with anticipation and trust the receivers to do what is expected. IF OBJ cleared his defender by pressing deeper up the field, that route doesn't get jumped. The ball MUST be in the air before the break. Now, I didn't like the design but then again, who really knows what that design was intended to be?

However, it is fair to criticize Stafford for his miscues. It's bothersome how he has stretches when the ball simply doesn't go where he is aiming. It's so obvious because when he's on, he's insanely accurate. But even the best of pitchers in MLB have games where they just don't have the same command as usual and so they adjust. The world's greatest golfers of all time have days they shoot well over par.

So it's important to judge a QB by the entire body of work over the course of the season and factor how the other 10 perform around him. When Kurt Warner went to the OLine deficient Giants, he led the league in fumbles. Coincidentally, he was also sacked and pressured more than any other QB. Perhaps he needs to return his gold jacket? It was clearly his fault the Giants sucked and did even worse when they turned it over to Eli. Such a theory is supported by how he was a backup in Arizona because he had clearly "lost it". A two time MVP forgot how to play football? Sure...run with that. Oops, what? When Russ Grimm fixed their OLine and Fitz got to line up across from Bolden....abracadabra...Kurt remembers how to play QB!!!! Wow! On second thought, with careful analysis...maybe, just maybe, the other 10 players and their OC are important to evaluating a QB's ability to have success. Ho hum...12-4. Qb's w more wins this year? Only 1(Rodgers) Qb's w more yards? Only 1(Brady). Qb's with a higher average yards per pass attempt? Only 1(Burrow) QB's w more TD's? Only 1(Brady again).

Yeah, dude's washed!!!! Stick a fork in him because the Lions never won a playoff game. He has no excuse because he had Megaton and so a running game and good defense were totally unnecessary with such a great outside receiver. The Lions future looks so much brighter this year now that they unloaded the albatross.
