I agree that if your score the most points it usually means a W. Except if you play a Tom Brady team. Then you have to score the most points many times to win. I am not a big fan of deferring. It could make sense if you had a very big defense. Like the '85 Bears. Or that incredible Ravens team that won it all. If you can get a quick 3 and out and mentally destroy your opponent the first time they touch the ball then I like the chances of a win. When you have a big offense why not take the ball down the field and put up a seven? Either you quick strike them and put the fear of God in their D right away or you just pound your way down the field and kill a half of the first quarter before putting up 7. Either way there is added pressure for the other offense. We are supposed to have the big offense so kicking off seems odd to me. Seems like McVay likes to have a lead and the extra possession in the second half has helped him to his 45-0 record when winning at halftime. Hard to argue with perfection. And yet, when we play the Niners, and if we win the toss maybe we pull a switcheroo. Instead of deferring and having them run down the field on us maybe we take the ball and run it down their throats? I would love to see that.

Getting the ball first usually leads to scoring first
