Makes sense to me. The Belichick trend of deferring is for defensively focused teams that feel confident about stopping that first drive.

Sure, getting the ball to score at the end of the half and receiving the halftime kickoff are back-to-back opportunities to double up the score.

But, as I’ve mentioned before and all of us Rams’ fans who were watching in the 80s know, how many times did Walsh’ 49ers win the toss, methodically drive down the field and John Robinson was left trying to play catch up?

That’s not a position of leverage when facing a ball control, passing team.
