I don't need to see stats. I don't need to see diagrams of how it compared to Staley's D. I don't need to see the all 22.
I can see the difference with my own eyes. The players are playing better. More disciplined and physical.
IMO, Morris absolutely should get some credit.
If Morris would have had the team playing like this earlier in the year I don't think people would have been calling for changes. This is what we all expected the D to be.
If Morris keeps this up, his odds of getting a HC gig would surely go up.
Agreed that since (and including) the Jaguars game we've seen more aggression from the team, especially the defensive backs. Do you see this as a change in tactics, personnel or the players becoming more comfortable with Morris's defensive philosophy?
I think it's a bit of all of those things 3030.
There are some different players playing at some positions but we had a pretty healthy team to start the year and the D was having issues as we all saw in the first few games. Giving up long drives, bad tackling, playing soft coverage, undisciplined play, not physical, etc and that was with all our starters playing. IMO, that was mostly on Morris.
Yes, we have some new players now but we also are playing some backups too like DD #21, TH #32.
We also have some of the same guys who were sucking before are now playing a bit better. For example, Reeder has a great game yesterday. He is the same dude, why is he playing better now? IMO, Morris has adjusted.
Mid way through the season it was clear (to most lol) that the way Morris was calling the game was a problem. He was still playing soft, giving up multiple double digit drives a game, poor adjustments and his players were being pushed around due to not being physical.
Now the last few games, we seem to be playing more physical and attacking. More press coverage and the last 2 games Morris has played Ramsey more one on one with the #1 WR and we all see a difference.
Do the players see the difference too? I bet they do. Does it help them play better knowing the scheme is better? I bet it does. Does it help them play better knowing the adjustments are better? I bet it does. They seem to be playing with more confidence now.
I know 53 will say it's still the same scheme, nothing has changed...but it's not. It's easy to see...at least for me...there is a difference and it is showing. Credit to Morris? Yes, his changes have made the team and players better!
Still not a fan of his. He still tends to play some soft coverage and still takes Ramsey off the #1 WR too often IMO but I think he has improved. Why? IDK. Did McVay get in his ear? Did he listen to the critics in the media and make the changes on his own? We might not ever know. As long as they are playing like this...I don't care why.
#HelmetHornsMatter
“Well, the color is good, I like the metallic blue,” Youngblood recently said while laughing, via NFL Journal. “The horn is terrible. It looks like a ‘C.’ When I first saw it on the logo I honestly thought it was a Charger logo.
“Now when I see it on the helmet, it just isn’t a ram horn. There is no distinct curl like a mature ram horn. I don’t know how the Rams could get that wrong. That is your symbol and it has been for what? Seventy years or more? Longer than I have been alive? It’s just not us, it’s not the Rams.”---Mr. Ram Jack Youngblood
