Players are human beings. And while Kupp is a team first guy, he knows the pace he's on could set a new record. And so does Stafford. But, would he intentionally force the ball Kupp's way to help him set that record? Or Kupp sort of insist on it? I don't think so. But how uncanny it would be that Stafford would be the QB that helped Megatron set the record, who now helps Kupp to try to break it?
The reality is that Kupp is simply on a roll. It's one of those special moments in sports. But it is also that Kupp and Stafford have a connection that is partly the result of Stafford being new in an offense, not having years with his players, and having one exceptional guy that has worked extra hard to help Stafford succeed.
QBs have their guys that they are most comfortable with. Guys they trust the most to be where they're supposed to be and who WILL catch the damn ball. This year Kupp is that guy. My guess is that next year the ball will be more evenly distributed because Stafford will have had so much more time with his WRs. And don't forget: he was just getting comfortable with Woods when he went down and out for the season.
The other thing is, Kupp gets open pretty much no matter what the other team does.
