The first time he tested positive, they said it was actually a false-positive. Maybe this second time he tested positive for real. Or maybe he's just one of those people who tests false-positive for certain things? Man, I got no clue.
Years ago when I was in my 20's and still a college student, I used to be a regular blood donor at the American Red Cross. A couple of weeks after I'd donated blood one time, I got a letter from the Red Cross telling me that one of my blood tests showed I had syphillis and that I needed to see my doctor right away. FREAKED ME OUT and SCARED ME TO DEATH. I was considered a military dependent at the time so I saw a military doctor at McConnell Air Force base. They ran tests again and told me I was negative. I was so confused. I said look, do I have it or not? They said, you do NOT have syphillis. Some people test false-positive. Still didn't make sense to me. A couple of years later I was diagnosed with systemic lupus erythamatousus and found out that it's not uncommon for lupus patients to test positive for syphllis when they, in fact, don't have it.
