Another problem with those analytics is that I don't think they incorporate what a defense is defending against. The numbers may tell you that you have good success foregoing punts or field goals but was that success against defenses that were surprised and with the wrong defense and personnel for the situation? That's a lot different than if you always go for it and the defense is anticipating it.
