My respect for McVay eroded a little bit back in 2018 during the whole "what's up with Gurley?" thing which reared its head midseason and continued till after the Super Bowl. McVay kept saying Gurley wasn't hurt, he'd be fine. McVay said Gurley would figure prominently during the playoffs, and continued to deny there was anything physically wrong with Gurley. Well, we found out the hard way that wasn't true. Gurley didn't figure prominently in the playoffs OR the SB. What the fans got was explanations that didn't match what our eyes were seeing. It felt to me like McVay figured the fans would just accept what he was saying. But it felt like a lie to me. I'm not sure exactly how McVay should have said it, but the way he and Snead handled the whole thing was poor. It could have been better. I lost some respect for him over that situation.
