There is a big crowd here for the Rams to dummy it down and run it and punt it to stay away from turnovers. A couple of things:
1) You are not going to beat the great teams with the run it and punt it approach unless you are the 85 Bears in today's NFL.
2) Even with the average to good teams, you need a dominant defense for the run it and punt it approach on offense. This defense isn't stopping anybody and isn't forcing any turnovers to create momentum. No pash run, no interceptions, no nothing. Teams go on these drives that take 1/2 of a quarter away and the offense stands in the freezer and never gets any continuity going and then a couple 3 and outs and nothing ever flows.
So then the offense has to try to score to stay up and presses and becomes one dimensional with a lot of passing or the other teams just keep extending the lead and keep control of the ball as the clock ticks away.
