It seems clear that in the last several games, teams are scheming to throw to the shallow and intermediate center of the field. This does several things - ball comes out quick to negate pass rush, QB's don't have to challenge Ramsey, there is plenty of room right down the middle since Reeder and Rapp cannot cover ANYONE. We're making it too easy. Look how many times Rogers targeted that area - with great success.
Reeder can't cover and can't tackle (why again is he out there). Would Rozeboom be worse? Maybe. Hoping for Hollins
Rapp can at least tackle but is a liability in coverage as he takes terrible angles, is often out of position, and has no ball awareness. Is Burgess or Scott that much of a downgrade? Give one of them a shot, for crying out loud.
When you have players consistency underperforming with no consequence (benching) - what kind of message does that send to your team? Bad play is tolerated?
This may go down as the worst off-season in Snead / McVay's tenure. The terrible tutu pick, the lack of ILB depth, The sudden dismissal of Young and no attempt made to bring in a veteran ILB. The lack of TE 2 after Mundt went down. So far the Von Miller trade looks like a bust as well. OBJ - we'll see how much he contributes. The RB depth is bad and would have been bad even if Akers didn't get hurt. We had only 2 functional RB's with Akers. Not a way to go into a season claiming you want to run the ball more.
