The offense can not get into rhythm without multiple possessions. Letting teams dink and dunk and move up and down the field is a mistake. So, maybe they only get a field goal or make a mistake and have to punt - as long as they are chewing clock and keeping the Rams offense off the field it's a win.
Would rather they play more aggressively, even gamble more on D - blitz, run blitz, bring safeties down. Challenge receivers on short routes, If they give up a big play - so what? At least we get the ball back sooner. And if you've noticed - a lot of these dink and dunk down the fields drives result in opponent touchdowns. So that's twice the loss - clock and score.
