I think the team sees Beckham as a huge insurance policy. Sure, he's gonna see snaps and will be worked into the offense sooner rather than later but if one of our 3 current starters were to go down due to injury (see Cooper Kupp) our offense would be greatly hamstringed. Beckham prevents a huge drop off if injury were to occur to either Kupp, Woods or Jefferson and he also adds an immediate threat. Doing this deal right before the bye week is also a benefit. It gives McVay and company two weeks to put in some "Beckham specific" packages and get him closer to being up to speed and effective on the field. Beckham will help this team I have no doubt about that and his impact will continue to grow as the season goes on and he gets more integrated into the offense and the system. He might not be the player he was a few years ago, but he's still a huge upgrade over ANY option we have on the roster if one of our big 3 receivers were to go down. I can't see any reason whatsoever that the presence of Beckham will hurt the team, so I'm going to enjoy sitting back and seeing how this all plays out.
Oh, and the Rams absolutely MUST beat the Whiners Monday night. This next game is huge. I think the Niners will come out ultra motivated to put a huge damper all this Rams bravado (especially Shanahan) and the Rams sure as hell better be ready to get punched in the mouth again.
