Snead mentioned the two were separate conversations. Also Young didn't move the needle in a conversation for a guy of Von's caliber. He's a JAG they moved to make room for Jones who has already upgraded us at that spot. Certainly there is zero reason to think he would carry any weight in terms of sweetening future deals.
As to the OP's question it is simple IMO: he cannot play next to Jones because he can't consistently fill run fits on the interior. He is a chase type just like Littleton was, a souped up SS type who has some value in range.
Re: Reeder I have been disappointed with his play so far too. But when you are dedicated to running two deep schemes on the back end you are going to give up a lot of 7 man boxes. Which by extension means you gotta have an ILB who can bolster the defense vs the run. There has to be some physicality and ability to fill his run fits downhill and Reeder provides that Young did not.
