Rams-Texans: Sean McVay makes 3 roster moves ahead of Sunday
LA’s tight end situation got a little more clear with Kendall Blanton getting promoted

The Los Angeles Rams have promoted tight end Kendall Blanton to the 53-man roster from the practice squad, clearing up the situation at the position a little bit more as we approach the midpoint of the season. The Rams placed Johnny Mundt in season-ending IR last week and third-string backup Brycen Hopkins has been a healthy scratch in every game.

This makes it clear that Sean McVay prefers Blanton over Hopkins and Jacob Harris at this time. Harris is active for every game but plays exclusively on special teams and only really started learning the tight end position in 2021.

LA Rams Transactions:
• Free Agent Signing, TE Kendall Blanton
• Activated from Practice Squad DB Antoine Brooks
• Activated from Practice Squad DB Tyler Hall

In addition to promoting Blanton to the 53-man roster, the Rams have also elevated defensive backs Tyler Hall and Antoine Brooks from the practice squad. With Darious Williams on short-term IR and Robert Rochell dealing with injury this week, McVay added reinforcements to a secondary that is struggling to stop offenses outside of Defensive Player of the Year candidate Jalen Ramsey and Jordan “with the Green Dot” Fuller.

McVay has already ruled out Andrew Whitworth and Sebastian Joseph-Day, potentially signaling that LA is treating the Texans like a “Bye week” of sorts, or at least, playing it as safe as they can for a 1-6 opponent that hasn’t shown much will to win.
