I get your point. But the drill he was running (toe in, toe out) puts stress on the Achilles. So while drills sure isn't playing football, that 9 months before the next training camp he is already to this point to me is very hopeful.
I did research on Achilles injuries and indeed they can be devastating. However, ACLs used to be career ending and medical procedures have advanced significantly; I suspect it's the same with all sports injuries. The main thing that is on Cam's side is time. He will have had a full year to go through the process before next season.
