For a few reasons...
First, our defense allows the comfort throws that Goff requires to get into a good zone. So he'll be able to complete things underneath and move the offense and get into the flow of the game early on. His weapons aren't great but he's got an excellent TE who will be open a lot vs our defense and we have some guys like Long who allow for completions even when they're in position.
Second, we all know his compete level (which is usually low) will be off the charts this week. I expect the guy to be studying film late and maybe doing everything extra in his prep that he can to stick it to the coach who cast him aside.
Third, if you look at his history he tends to respond to coaching criticism with improved play for a brief period. In 2020 for example he had some horrific games like SF and Miami but after McVay called him out he beat Seattle and then put up what was probably his best game all season vs Tampa Bay who were the eventual Super Bowl champs.
