It was not a case of they could not afford him

We cut him in in final roster cuts prior to his second season with the rams. He had at least two more years on a rookie contract when cut. It had nothing to do with salary. The DL was Donald, Brockers,SJD, Fox, Gaines, and Smart. SJD, Gaines and Smart are not playing the same position as Franklin Myers. No way JFM takes Donald's or Brockers' spot. Could they have used him than Smart or Natrez Patrick at OLB? Maybe. But this was clearly not a salary dump issue.
