There are no simple solutions, but a game like this can present simple arguments on both sides of the ball: When a defense that is predicated upon stopping the explosive plays in the run and the pass, and especially in the pass, doesn’t do that, what is that defensive identity? How can that defense be considered successful?
It can’t be.
That’s the question defensive coordinator Raheem Morris is facing now — that balance between philosophy and execution, and where the gaps between the two are (a process that is inclusive of coaches and players).
