Apparently you don't read my posts, eh?
I posted this last night:
The thumb smack didn't happen last week as I'd posted earlier. It happened on a 2nd and 5 with 2:57 left in the 2nd quarter in game #2 against the Colts. Stafford didn't smack his hand against a helmet, he jammed his thumb up against DeForest Buckner's shoulder pads.as he was attempting a pass. McVay stepped onto the field briefly along with 2 refs to check him out. The announcer said "I know Matt Stafford and he's tough as nails but that's the last thing you want to see is for him to go out with a thumb injury". He did shake his hand out a few times even a couple of plays after that but nothing more was said about it and since Stafford went on to have a stellar performance, maybe there really wasn't anything wrong. Couldn't help but wonder, though. It makes me think of the whole Kurt Warner-thumb-Brenda Warner on the warpath thing.
