My wife went to Mira Costa high school -graduated in 1960. She and her mother lived on the "Strand" in a very small 1 bedroom home. In those days there were several houses like that on the Strand which is hard to believe today. She would take her books right out the front door and sit on the beach and study with her back up against the wall. She would then surf with fellow girl surf rats before going inside-or sneaking into bars like the "Poop Deck", etc along the strand-because, after all, that's where the lifeguards hung out after work. Lots of stories about the Strand that I cannot repeat here.
Few years back we went to her H.S. reunion and walked down the Strand to see if her old house was still there. You guessed it-now there sits a three story multi million dollar house that is likely the home of a Laker or King player.
