The interesting thing is, why wouldn't every team do this?
Plus, because historically most teams only dressed 7 OL as part of the 46, now by dressing 8 that means you can also dress an additional player at some other position as well.
I think the thing that needs to be added is that a team can stash one player on the Practice Squad that does NOT have to go through waivers when cut on the final cutdown. This would allow most teams to put QB3 on the PS and not fear losing him. QB is just too important to the game to play Russian Roulette all the time.
