Rams begin next round of cuts by releasing 3 players on Monday morning

Devlin Hodges watched Bryce Perkins play the entire preseason game against the Las Vegas Raiders on Saturday, and as of Monday, he is no longer on the LA Rams. The Rams have made three transactions as of Monday morning, releasing Hodges, running back/returner Raymond Calais, and safety Paris Ford.
Calais will revert to injured reserve once he clears waiver, having suffered a broken foot against the Raiders.
Hodges was signed by the Rams to a futures contract in January and was essentially QB4 the entire way. His play in the first preseason game against the Chargers was uneven and ended with an interception in the end zone.
Raymond Calais had a shot to be LA’s returner, if not a complementary back to Darrell Henderson, but will spend 2021 healing from foot surgery. His release could mean that undrafted free agent Otis Anderson, Jr. gets a chance to make the final roster in basically the same role that Calais would have had, if he had made the roster.
Paris Ford was considered one of the top undrafted free agents in 2021, with many being surprised that no team selected him in the draft. The team is currently quite deep at safety however and Ford never stood out in reports in training camp or preseason, so this move is not surprising at this point. Even if he looked to be one of LA’s top undrafted free agent signings.
The Rams have until Tuesday’s deadline to get from 82 players down to 80.
