I really think Center and Blythe were about Jared Goff. Queue up the first game vs the 9ers in week 6 or so and you hear Goff asking Blythe "what did you say? what did you say???" to get the line call. Goff relied upon Blythe to do line calls.
This probably prevented Corbett from moving over and replacing the OL's weakest link during the season. Because in spite of him having some familiarity at Center he's not an expert on the calls and that would have been a disaster.
Fast forward to this offseason with the QB move and all of a sudden Blythe is out the door even though he would have been cheap. Rams could have had him at a very favorable rate but passed. Because they knew what he was.
Corbett right now is getting schooled by Stafford, who also schooled Ragnow. And again Ragnow went on recently about how good Stafford was at the line calls, how he would sometimes let him get the calls wrong and school him up. Also and all of a sudden Allen is looking better up there, and that probably has a little to do with the line calls as well in fact because he has Stafford there to support him.
QB is a big piece of that pie. I am certain of that.
