I have never understood it, either..

I know Martz said something like he didn't wanna blow it after the team battled back to be in a position to, at least, tie.. I - and pretty much most Ram fans at that time - were shocked that Martz went soft when he had the jugular vein exposed on his opponent.. I viewed it like he let Carolina back into the fight and it bit him in the butt.. and the rest of us, as well.. one of the most frustrating losses EVER as a Rams fan.. the other, for me, being another Martz game a couple of years earlier..
