Robinson to take Thurman....
remember that show Sportstalk, I think it was--with Roy Firestone?
Anyway, Rams sent Bell to Raiders for a mid-round draft choice---
Actually my memory was Greg Bell told John Shaw & Domonic Frontiere (married to Georgia at the time) Shaw & Frontiere asked him, who he liked in the draft and Bell said he would take Thurman Thomas and Shaw responded they liked Gaston Green. Shaw was right twice in his football life, hiring Vermeil and convincing Vermeil to hire an OC outside the organization (Vermeil wanted to hire Mike White over Martz) and had to convince Vermeil about Marshal Faulk. Other than that, I look at John Shaw as the antichrist.
At one point Vermeil mentioned the possibility of recanting on his agreement to go outside for his coordinator. They re-agreed that outside was best. That was before Vermeil interviewed his 2 candidates (Matt Cavanaugh and Martz). White was never considered in opposition to Martz--the White stuff came up before Martz was even interviewed. When Vermeil chose it was between Cavanaugh and Martz.
Shaw did not have to convince Vermeil about Faulk.
