He wasn't a special teams impact guy so there was no reason to have him UP for a given game in the first place. First thing I noticed about Harris... Special teams demon. Not a coincidence IMO.
From there Hopkins was according to the Rams an advanced receiving game weapon meaning a redshirt would help him learn to block and maybe get more of an opportunity to supplant Everett.
But the funny thing is McVay sounds so excited about Harris that I think he might be changing the scheme to play to his strengths because of his matchup potential. Reality here is that Everett never could force favorable matchups he was a catch and RAC underneath type. Harris is a whole different animal. The kind of large weapon McVay has never had before.
I do think Harris will need time. But the best TEs do show some stuff in year one. So if he's one of those guys we're gonna feel him in 2021. I'm excited simply by the fact that it's possible because look at our TE history. Boy are we due to hit big on a guy.
