If you look at the top 20 players in sacks, only 5 were
not either a 1st or 2nd rounder. Not that many are even 2nd rounders.
So obviously after round 1 your chances of finding one go down, and after round 2 they go way down.
Since 2017 they keep drafting prospects at the rate of nearly 1 a year (Ebukam, Lawler, Okoronkwo, Lewis, Garrett). The problem of course is your odds of hitting one this way are not good.
In 2022 it gets worse because they may have to think about getting a left OT, and they are just as hard to find after round 1 as pass rushers are. And the odds of signing both a pass rusher and a left OT in free agency are pretty slim too--maybe they can afford one but they certainly can't afford both.
